A Message from Anne-Marie on her surgery…

by The Broads on March 18, 2010

Hey Fellow Broads –

I’m so excited to be leaving the house in moments to head for the hospital for my breast reduction surgery. If you watched today’s show on youtube, you’ll see how much I’m looking forward to finally getting rid of a little too much of me – I know my back, my neck and my overall psyche will be better for it. And, you’ll also hear how this is it for me – no more nips/tucks/needles above the neck for me.

But, I’m also reminded – as I go in for elective surgery – that some of my treasured friends are dealing with breast issues that are life-threatening and I truly am thinking of them. Dear friend and colleague Laura, who’s mounted the fight of her life against her breast cancer, who just had a double mastectomy and is about to begin chemo – and whose many friends are praying for her so that she gets to watch her two young children grow up. And, to those who have dear ones who’ve lost their fights against this horrible disease and to those who have fought the big C and won – know that you continue the fight on behalf of all of us.

Thanks to everyone for their good wishes – but, honestly, I’m feeling that this is a piece of cake for me compared to what others face. Speaking of which – can’t wait to have a piece of cake – or four – later today once they let me eat again!

See you on the other side – will report back as soon as the haze lifts and I can lift my arms high enough. I have promised that a little less of me will be back in time for our next Boomer Broads show on Tuesday – so stay tuned.

~Anne-Marie
